Kilim Ndebele Green Rug by Gan Rugs

This model in green and blue tones from our Ndebele kilim series is inspired by the way in which the Ndebele people of South Africa, from which the collection takes its name, decorate the facades of their homes with dynamic and colorful geometric patterns.

Designer Sandra Figuerola reinterpreted these designs in terms of pattern and color palette, and transferred them to a textile medium that works perfectly with contemporary spaces.

This is the Ndebele green rug, like the paintings on the facades of Ndebele villages, which are traditionally made by women, this kilim combines several geometric patterns, diverse in terms of style. It is available in two sizes and features green, blue, gray and black tones. The series also includes a Red version, in garnet, orange, purple, green and ecru tones. The kilim is an artisan method of rug making in which the weft is tightly woven on a manual loom, using only threads and no knotting. The result is a light fabric with no pile, similar to that of upholstery. It is a technique that offers great flexibility, a feature that GAN explores thoroughly to create high-impact details.
