Silhouette rug by Nanimarquina
Designed by Jaime Hayon, the Silhouette rug is made of Afghan wool (95%) and New Zealand wool (5%), natural fibers spun by hand. Two techniques have been used to make this rug: embroidery and Hand Loom Kilim. Embroidery, as a basic part of manual sewing, allows you to create visual embellishments in relief. Kilim, on the other hand, allows you to work with threads of different thicknesses, resulting in a flat-woven rug. The delicate line drawing defines the silhouettes of various imaginary characters that intertwine and coexist in a beautiful composition.

The artist subtly introduces color through small elements that add personality and help us to interpret each of the faces. When you look closely, 9 faces are discovered, distributed so that the rug can be seen from all points of view, fitting perfectly into any space. This embroidery technique involves a laborious process done by hand in Pakistan. Chain stitch embroidery adds texture and soft volume that emphasize the sinuousness of the pattern. Despite its delicate appearance, it is a resistant technique suitable for private and public use. This indoor model includes a tapestry piece that can be hung vertically.
