KNOTWORK Natural Felt Rug by GAN Rugs
The Knotwork rug is an amazing design whose surface presents a rich and complex compendium of knots of totally different styles. Made with thin strips of light brown felt, it alternates up to four types of interlacing, which follow one another and repeat in the manner of friezes.
Like a knitted sweater, the rug acquires a voluminous texture that also resembles macramé.

KNOTWORK Natural Felt Rug, mosaic felt rugs are made from two sheets of white felt which have been dyed, cut into identical shapes and reassembled into a mosaic-like textile of interlocking positive and negative patterns. Couching threads in a contrasting colour highlight the overall design, and cover and strengthen the joins between felt sections.
Quilting is also used to add a relief effect to the pattern, and to strengthen the carpet by attaching it to a naturally-coloured backing felt. The border edge is often covered by braidwork.
Created by the in-house GAN design team, perhaps the most surprising thing about this creation is its manufacturing method, since it is not knotted by hand, but handmade on a manual loom. It is available in three sizes.
